Einstein basically said "Light shrinks".tgold8888https://www.blogger.com/profile/11730006136408540682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3367618069880256082.post-62366607892430761192016-09-21T16:14:18.665-07:002016-09-21T16:14:18.665-07:00NEVER TRUST ME. I think I'm usually pretty good about showing the math but I admit I did skip a few steps here (was in a hurry towards the end - and I really just wanted to share the picture). The important thing in the math here was that if you ignore the ellipsoid you get about 600m off.

I'll also try to add some diagrams that explain the math more visually.

Meanwhile, some quick references:

Chords: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_(geometry)
Angular size: https://rechneronline.de/sehwinkel/angular-diameter.php
Earth Radius: http://topex.ucsd.edu/geodynamics/14gravity1_2.pdfDark Starhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04356850749159919331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3367618069880256082.post-76636446136007274892016-09-20T22:59:33.750-07:002016-09-20T22:59:33.750-07:00I think sometimes you're going to need to link...I think sometimes you're going to need to link out to further explanations on the equations you use.
